Welcome to Class 2F! - Mr Fidler, Mrs Simon and 30 Superstars
We hope you enjoy finding out about what we have been up to in class. Our "Learning Together" sheet will be sent home at the end of every week and it will keep you updated with what we have been doing in our writing and maths lessons.
Term 3 - Summer
We listen to your child read at least once a week either individually or as a group. Children are reminded to bring reading books in every day and Library books on a Friday.
If your child has finished reading their book, have a good understanding of what has happened in it and they have been asked questions about it, they are able to change their book any day.
We are looking forward to sharing our new online reading scheme "Bug Club". This will provide lots of new, exciting books for the children to read and focus on their comprehension understanding of the book. Details of how to access "Bug Club" will be sent home shortly.
This term the children will be focusing on writing stories in familiar settings and traditional tales. They will enjoy role play activities, planning their own version of stories and writing at length. Accurate spelling plays a major role in the children's assessment at the end of the year. Please continue to support your child in learning their weekly spellings.
This term the children will continue to work on number calculations focusing on multiplication, division and fractions. They will solve problems and reason. Maths homework will continue to be set on "My Maths". Children will also receive log in details for "TT Rockstars", an app to develop times tables fluency. Both online resources can be accessed on any device that connects to the internet. If you struggle to access any of these resources please don't hesitate to speak to me about it.
Our topic work in Geography and History will focus on locating the continents and oceans of the world, labelling maps and using globes. The children will research the History of Liverpool.
For Art and D&T the children will create their own moving vehicle. We will be looking at aboriginal animal art and creating our own art work in that style.
Throughout R.E we focus on all the world religions such as Judaism, Hinduism and Christianity. We will talk about our special books and special books to each religion.
In Science we will be learning about variation in humans, plants and animals. The children will take part in an investigation and will look at the physical features and changes of young and old animals and humans.
We will become presenters in Computing, learning how to use PowerPoint, focusing on editing fonts and adding images. We will continue to think about how we can stay safe when online within e-safety, celebrating Safer Internet Day in February.
PSHE will have a focus this term on environmental problems and families and friendships.
Working with our sports coaches, the children will take part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities alongside learning about movement and dance within P.E.
In Music the children will learn a variety of songs in preparation for our class assembly and will have the opportunity to play some percussion instruments.
If you have any questions regarding the curriculum, please do not hesitate to speak to myself.
