Spring Term 2017.
The Nursery children have settled in really well. They’ve made lots of friends and know where to find everything in the classroom. They’re brilliant at tidying up! They can all put on their wellies and coats when they go out to play and enjoy our beautiful outdoor play area.
The role play area is always great fun. This year we’ve had a stage where we could perform plays, sing songs, dance and tell terrible jokes. Now we’ve got a pirate ship. We’ve had lots of stories about pirates, learnt songs about the sea, gone on pirate adventures, drawn treasure maps and dressed up in pirate clothes.
We share lots of big books together, finding the name of the author, illustrator and looking for the title. We check the blurb on the back and read the book together.
We play around with words all the time. We make up songs with our own rhyming words. We’re learning to alliterate, we love that word, clap the syllables in words and listen for the sounds in words. Eg c-a-t, b-i-t, using Polly the Parrot to help. She can only say sounds.
World Book Day was great fun. Have a look at the pictures.
We count every day and now we’re starting to recognise our numbers up to 10.
We saw the chicks hatch out from their eggs and grow massively in a short space of time.
Zoolab was brilliant. We got to look at, touch and even hold some of the creatures.
It's rained a lot but we're looking forward to the warmer weather and seeing how the trees change and which flowers are going to grow. Our bird feeders are very busy at the moment with goldfinches, greenfinch, chaffinch, a friendly robin, collared doves and lots of starlings in the London Plane tree above our feeders.
