Welcome to Class 2F! - Mr Fidler, Mrs Simon and 30 Superstars
We hope you enjoy finding out about what we have been up to in class. Our "Learning Together" sheet will be sent home at the end of every week and it will keep you updated with what we have been doing in our writing and maths lessons.
We listen to your child read at least once a week either individually or as a group. Children are reminded to bring reading books in every day and Library books on a Friday.
If your child has finished reading their book, have a good understanding of what has happened in it and they have been asked questions about it, they are able to change their book any day.
This term the children will be focusing on writing instructions, poetry and information texts. Each week children will be sent home a comprehension activity sheet to complete.
Using lots of practical equipment to help with our number work, we will be focusing on our understanding of place value and developing our strategies for the four calculations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Look out for suggested activities in our "Learning Together" homework sheet.
Our topic work in Geography and History will focus on looking at the local environment and finding out about the Great Fire of London.
For Art and D&T the children will look at drawing using pencil, charcoal and pastels. Children will also make Christmas hats and cards.
Throughout R.E we focus on all the world religions such as Judaism, Hinduism and Christianity.
In Science we will be learning about the different plants and animals in various habitats. We will also be learning about healthy eating and how we can keep ourselves healthy.
We will become computer programmers within Computing, taking part in the hour of code and creating simple programs. The children will learn how to create algorithms and debug their programs. We will also think about how we can stay safe when online within e-safety.
PSHE will have a focus on new beginnings, environmental problems, managing friendships and healthy eating.
Working with our sports coaches, the children will take part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities alongside learning about movement and dance within P.E.
In Music the children will learn a variety of songs in preparation for our Christmas concert and will have the opportunity to play some percussion instruments.
