Welcome to 1B's class page!
With Miss Brown and Mrs Gould
You will find lots of lovely information here on the activities and learning that we have been doing in class. Our 'Learning Together" sheet will be sent home at the end of each week with details on what we have been doing in our writing and maths lessons.
Things to bring to school
*A pair of wellington boots in for those rainy days.*
*A water bottle*
*P.E. kit (P.E. will be on a Monday)*
Please ensure that all items are labelled
We will listen to your child read weekly on either a Monday or Tuesday with bookbags kept in school over these two days to be returned on a Tuesday. Children are reminded to please bring their reading books in every day and to bring Library books in on a Wednesday.
Reading books will be changed when your child has finished reading their book, they have a good understanding of what has happened in it and they have been asked questions about what they have read.
During our Autumn term we will be looking at captions, labels, recounts and using instructions. It is so much fun to hear what our class have been up to when writing My News recounts together!
This term will see us focus on number work such as place value, addition and subtraction. We will work hard to develop different strategies in order to complete these calculations as well as make use of practical activities to help children build strong foundations for number knowledge.
The last half hour of the day will see us focusing on phonics and building on the phonetic knowledge that the children developed during their time in Reception. This will be done through group learning as well as fun games and practical activities which will support our class by providing strategies for spelling and being able to decode new words.
Geography and History will be covered in our topic work where we will look at our exciting new classroom environment as well as the chronological stages of growing up (which seems to happen so quickly!).
During our Art and DT lessons, we will look at using texture and lines, observational drawings, Christmas crafts as well as learning how to use tools safely in the kitchen when we make our own delicious vegetable soup. Yum!
RE will see us learning about world religions such as Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism.
We will be learning how to identify parts of plants and the differnt body parts in our Science lessons this term, as well as looking at how to work scientifically.
In computing we will look at how we can stay safe online (Very important!) and ensure that we all understand e-safety. We will learn how to use equipment such as ipads and laptops as well as looking at programmable toys.
In PSHE we will be looking at the differences and similarities that we all have, as well as linking this to responsible ICT use as mentioned above.
Working with our fantastic sports coaches, the children will take part in a range of indoor and outdoor activities alongside learning about movement and dance within P.E.
We will continue with our wonderful French lessons where the children have great fun singing songs and learning new vocabulary words.
In Music the children will learn a variety of songs in preparation for our Christmas concert and will have the opportunity to play some percussion instruments.
